And they say we're the belligerent ones

Why is it that there are non Christians who feel the need to argue with Christians about difficult, no scratch that, all aspects of Christian dogma and orthodoxy? The reason I ask this is that I know someone who does this to me all the time. She can not let an oppertunity escape her. And it's not like she is doing so to understand, because you can tell she's not, and she doesn't listen; she just waits until it's her turn again to spew her venom at you without actually listening to a word you had just said. Or rather, I had just said.

This disturbs me greatly. People get the impression that Christians are out there to convert the world, and that all Christians talk about is God and if anyone mentions that they are not a follower of Christ, then the Christians will pounce on them like a panther and lock their jaws and not let go. Yes, there are some out there. Yes, there are some who will come to your door (JW's and Mormons, mostly). Yes, there are some who have a life mission to convert the world.

But that is not me. I have no desire to painted this way, nor do I act this way. If I am conversing with someone who is showing a keen interest in the subject, then I will be more than glad to talk about it. I do not wish to argue with her who isn't listening anyway and just waiting for another oppertunity to see me slip up and to knock down Christians again. Fine, you don't agree with me when it comes to theology. Fine. I think you are stupid for not doing so, and I think you are a hypocrite and self centered and full of conceit and deceit. But I will not wait for you to say one thing wrong and jump on you; I will not give in to your baiting; I will not argue with you just so you can feel better about yourself. I will not cheat like you do, I will not put other people down just because they do not agree with me; I will not call people stupid, or a primitive thinker, crowd follower, brain washed, and what ever else you apparently think I am, to their face.

I am not like you; and you have no right to attack me or my belief system. You are not always right. And just because you do not understand what I believe in, does not make me stupid; it makes you stupid for not being able to understand, or at least attempt to. I am not closed minded, you are for thinking that anyone who does not think the way you do or agree with your opinions are narrow people.

Get off your high horse and leave me alone for crying out loud!!!

Note: this was aimed at a specific person and her actions towards me, not against those who disagree with Chrisitianity in general or me in general. That would make me like her!

Would you like a side of cruelty with your hypocracy?

Although this happened last week at the coffee/burger joint that I work in, it's still a good one.

It was dinner hour, quiet but with the occasional glutton-driven person arriving for our over-priced, overly large hamburger. One elderly woman came in, looking around 60ish. She, being the only customer in the store at that time, was watched by none other than the glorious author of this blog (ok, a little excessive....was being watched by me!). She looked at the menu, which is actually to the left of the tills. Obviously completely undecisive, I decided to help someone else who came in after her. This was an elderly woman, about in her 80's. She was deaf (-ish) and very bitter about it, as if it were my fault that she couldn't hear me. The other woman, who's husband joined her shortly thereafter proved to be bitter too. While I was helping old grumpy lady, I heard the first old lady snap at her husband for, I believe, asking her a question about the menu. Hmmmm.....nice.

At any rate, after a little kaffuffle over change with old grumpy lady, I finally was able to help the first couple. Do you know what the first thing she said to me was? No? Oh, ok, I'll tell you.

"Some old women are just sooo grumpy!"

Yes, like you.

The Vulture's Lair

Yesterday, I ventured into the violent wilderness. Although I managed to escape with my life, and miraculously unscathed, I still have a story to tell. A warning, if you will, about the dangers of this wilderness into which we all venture into at least once in our lives. Therefore, dear reader, take heed, and listen well.

I had to venture into the wilderness in order to find a seemingly rare object; if it were not for that, I would not have risked my welfare in such a fashion. As it were, I had no choice and ventured into the peril.

At first, it seemed managable. Although there were vultures swooping everywhere, they did not seem agitated nor did they notice my presence, or even each other's for that matter. They swooped in and out of the discarded corpses set out especially for them.

However, as soon as I made my way into the mess, they seemed to flock together, hating each other but hating me, the outlander, even more and as individuals and as a flock, they tried to hinder my progress. I was pushed out the way many a time by the obviously agitated vultures; one vulture moved directly in front of me, as if blocking my vision would prevent me from looking and perhaps taking a tasty piece of treasure away. When that large vulture was done picking through the debris, attempted to move away from the pile empty-handed and gave me the evil eye since I was obviously in her way. The scariest was when fresh meat was discovered; the vultures all swarmed over it, attempting to keep the other away from it, all trying to get the choiciest, tastiest, sweetest part for themselves. I moved away as quickly as possible at that point.

The vultures were not so deadly around the plant material, and I was able to conduct my search almost peacefully, with the occasional vulture that would find its way into the plants.

On the other side of the plants, however, the vultures were thick again. They were all attempting to deceive each other and hide their chosen pieces. But they couldn't succeed and ended just clutching to their possessions as if they would die without them.

The inhabitants of this wilderness were being driven mad by the vultures. They tried to placate them, but the vultures would have not it. The inhabitants could not escape the evil eyes of the vultures and their murderous attitudes.

Thankfully, I was able to escape with my life.

So, dear reader, be warned if you must go to the wilderness. And the name of the wilderness you ask? Value Village.

Stupidity is a disease

The disease of Stupidity has taken a hold of the West and is spreading faster than any biological or chemical weapon ever could. Or perhaps, it is a chemical weapon being utilized by the non-West in an attempt to get rid of us. By causing stupidity to take a hold of the West will cause eventual havoc and chaos as the society stops being able to function as it should: bad decisions will be made by the chimps who have been elected in to government and before you know it, every western country will have turned into a bizarre form of social cannibal and eat each other until the West has fallen, as all other evil empires in the past have.

Yes, stupidity is the spreading disease.

And you can see it every day.
